About Us

About Moving Forward Together

Moving Forward Together is a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to building a more connected, respectful and inclusive Australia. For over two decades, we’ve worked with schools, community groups, councils, faith communities and everyday Australians to strengthen social cohesion and promote the values of harmony, humanity and mutual respect.

We believe a decent society is one where everyone—regardless of culture, language, faith, background or age—feels valued, safe and respected. Our work encourages people to recognise their shared humanity, reject prejudice, and take positive steps to bring communities together.

What We Do

Our programs create meaningful opportunities for people of all ages to learn, reflect, participate and take action:

Harmony Day Competitions

National poster, songwriting and short-film competitions that inspire young people to express the themes of belonging, diversity and inclusion through creativity.

Harmony Walks

Community and school-based walks designed to bring people from all backgrounds together in a visible celebration of unity, respect and shared values.

Stop The Hate Mate

A youth-focused initiative empowering young Australians (12–25) to recognise and challenge hate speech—on the street and online—through practical tools, education and social media engagement.

Without Prejudice School Handbook

A free educational resource supporting teachers and students to navigate prejudice, build empathy, and understand the importance of social harmony. Available for download here on our website.

How We Work

We collaborate across all sectors—schools, councils, multicultural organisations, community groups, workplaces and families—to create projects that are practical, welcoming and impactful. Our approach is grounded in dialogue, education, creativity and community participation.

With the support of our Patron, Her Excellency the Governor of New South Wales, our Board, Advisory Committee, and a wide network of volunteers and partners, we continue to build programs that make it easier for people to connect, understand one another and work together for the common good.

Our Commitment

We stand for an Australia that:

  • rejects hate, discrimination and vilification

  • embraces diversity with respect and curiosity

  • values communication, understanding and cooperation

  • supports those who are vulnerable or marginalised

  • celebrates the strengths and contributions of all cultural and faith communities

  • ensures every person has a place and a voice

Our vision is simple:
A caring society where people look out for one another and move forward together.
